The Brown’s Ferry Elementary School Student Leadership Team hosted an assembly on Friday, January 13, 2017 to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  For this assembly, the students focused on the life and leadership traits of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The students shared how Dr. King led by example, inspired others with his dream, and encouraged others to unite for causes.

Rep. Carl Anderson was the guest speaker.  Rep. Anderson encouraged the students to not lose hope, as he quoted Dr. King, to dream and have goals.  He also stressed the importance of good character. “Your character tells others what kind of person you are, how you act and behave.  Are you kind?  Are you a hard worker? Are you polite?  Are you generous? Do you share?  Those kinds of things show your character.”    Finally, he encouraged the students to have KING days: K - be Kind, I   - be Innovative, N - be Nice, G - be Great! Together, the students stood and pledged to strive for K.I.N.G. Days every day.
